BFPD is made up of a staff of reserve and career firefighters, engineers, and officers. There are currently 34 personnel providing coverage from 2 stations. The career staff provide a combined 300+ years of experience in fire/rescue services. The Chief and Operations Chief oversee a daily staff of 10 who respond to an average of 5.4 calls for service every day. The firefighters provide firefighting, emergency medicine, water and technical rescue, auto extrication and hazardous materials response capabilities to the citizens and visitors of the District. All personnel are certified to both state and national levels for their respective disciplines. Primary service is provided by two Class A fire engines, but is supplemented by a fleet of wildland fire apparatus, reserve engines, rescues, a ladder truck, and watercraft.
