District Information
Berthoud Fire Protection District has been serving the community since 1888 and was formally established on June 19, 1950 by order and decree of the Larimer County District Court. As a Title 32 Special District, our Board of Directors have autonomous authority for governing the district within the scope of the District's powers.
Out of two (2) stations, Berthoud Fire provides fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, wildland protection, extrication, hazardous materials response, risk reduction, dive/ice/swift water/rope rescue, and public safety education. The District spans 103 square miles, servicing the Town of Berthoud and surrounding areas including Boulder, Larimer and Weld Counties. The district includes significant portions of US Highway 287 and Interstate 25 in addition to an 1,100 acre reservoir (Carter Lake).
